Old Swan opticians revamp store for 10th birthday

Specsavers in Old Swan is celebrating a decade serving local residents with a large-scale refurbishment.

More than £160,000 has been spent on an extensive update of the store, which will help to increase capabilities to provide a better service for customers.

The store has now been extended to a second floor to include two further test rooms, staff facilities and a purpose built lab where the glasses are glazed.

Within Specsavers the store is now recognised as a “Centre of Excellence” for its service, with around 20 team members, including an apprentice, largely drawn from the local community.

Leanne King has recently qualified as a dispensing optician and there are other team members on course to complete more professional training soon; additional skills that will improve service at the store even further.

Retail director Paul Stanway says: ‘2017 has been a very special year for the team here at Specsavers Old Swan. We are always thinking how we can improve our services and the refurb means we’ll be able to do this on a larger scale. Without a doubt the best thing about my job is watching people grow and develop and we pride ourselves on providing not just day to day jobs but careers for life. The training we provide here means we have seen outstanding progress from staff members, who have worked their way up to gain extensive experience and expertise.’
