FAI has recently organized its 1st International Drones Conference that took place in one of the most popular visitor centers in Switzerland, Lausanne. The event was part of the first-ever EPFL Drone Days with its amazing show and spectacular races.
EPFL Drone Days attracted a number of important delegations and persons in the drone industry, including the Model Aeronautic Association from Australia, and technical partner of the World Air Sports Federation, Noosphere Ventures, operated by Max Polyakov.
The conference lasted for three days, September 1-3, 2017, and went over a range of different topics, from sports to recent developments and safety in the drone industry. Lectures from more than 30 speakers from different countries, breathtaking competition,s and exciting workshops were all included in the program for the conference.
The speakers discussed a number of topics of current interest, such as agricultural apps, anti-collision solutions, logistics, public safety, and the use of drones in different kinds of sports.
One of the respectable speakers, Vladimir Vasiliev from EOS, emphasized the importance of using drones in the civil life and their exceptional role in data analytics. Mr. Vasiliev has incredible experience in the industry, working in the Earth Observing System, founded by Max Polyakov in early 2016.
Another speaker from Noosphere, Mikhail Ryabokon, came out with a sports-related topic. Mr. Ryabokon gave attention to the rising popularity of drone sports, especially in Ukraine. The speaker also talked about Copter Race 2017, that was recently held in Dnipro, Ukraine and was initiated by Max Polyakov’s Association Noosphere.
As for the workshops, they were attended by a large number of visitors of all ages. Being a fast-growing sport, drone racing attracts many young pilots. According to Douglas Burnet of the Aerial Sports League, one of their most successful pilots is only 16 years old. Mr. Burnet also spoke about the necessity to engage youth in drone development and engineering.
The conference also included exclusive drone flights that demonstrated the newest achievements and developments in the drone industry. The third day of the event amazed spectators with numerous modern designs, tools, and applications for drones.
