Everton FC still locked in Ronald Koeman compensation talks

Everton remain locked in talks with Southampton to secure Ronald Koeman’s release.

Koeman is on the verge of being named Roberto Martinez’s successor at Goodison Park after he agreed personal terms with the Blues last weekend.

But Sky Sports News claim the Saints are holding out for a compensation package worth £5 million to free the 53-year-old from the final 12 months of his existing deal.

New Everton majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri is widely expected to hand Koeman upwards of £100 million to overhaul and enhance the club’s current squad this summer.

The former Barcelona legend’s agent Rob Jansen has refuted claims in the Dutch press that the two clubs had already reached an agreement.

He said: “That’s really not the case. First, the clubs must have agreed. Then we get back into action.

“I can not say whether his brother Erwin will go along as an assistant. That’s all still premature now.

“Let’s just quietly wait if the clubs come to an agreement.”
