Everton FC agree Ronald Koeman compensation with Southampton

Ronald Koeman’s appointment as Everton manager is now imminent after talks with Southampton ended.

Negotiations over a settlement for the final 12 months of Koeman’s existing deal at St Mary’s dragged on for several days as the Saints sought £5 million in compensation.

But those talks have now concluded to leave the 53-year-old free to take the reins at Goodison Park as Roberto Martinez’s successor.

Koeman is expected to retain Duncan Ferguson as part of his new-look Everton back room while reports on the South Coast claim several Southampton personal will also move north.

BBC Radio Solent claim that Koeman’s brother Erwin is set to be named as Everton’s assistant manager, while fitness coach Jan Kluitenberg will also join the club’s ranks.

With the two-time European Cup winner currently on holiday, a formal unveiling is likely to be postponed until next week.
