Barcelona have seen a third bid for Philippe Coutinho rejected by Liverpool.
The latest attempt to prise the Brazilian away from Anfield comes just seven days after he submitted a transfer request in hopes of sealing a move to the Nou Camp.
But Liverpool immediately rebuffed the €125 million (£114m) offer as club owners Fenway Sports Group remain resolute that Coutinho will not be sold this summer.
Barca’s general manager Pep Segura claimed earlier this week that they were ‘very close’ to agreeing deals for Coutinho and Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele.
However Jurgen Klopp refuted the suggestions as the Catalans had still not managed to make any breakthrough with the Reds in their efforts to land the 25-year-old.
A breakdown of Barca’s latest offer has failed to convince them to part with the player.
An up-front payment of £80m would have been paid over a period of five years and padded out by a number of performance-related clauses.
They included Coutinho winning multiple trophies in a single season and lifting the Ballon d’Or accolade as the best player in world football.
Liverpool previously rejected offers of £72m and £90.2m for the one-time Inter Milan player.
Coutinho is currently sidelined with a back injury that has ruled him out of Liverpool’s first two Premier League games and their Champions League qualifier with Hoffenheim.
