Liverpool FC demand £20m for deadline day deal

Liverpool have demanded £20 million from Crystal Palace for defender Mamadou Sakho.

Sakho has been linked with a move to Selhurst Park on deadline day after the Eagles reportedly entered the race for his signature.

The Frenchman has not played for the Reds since last April when he was suspended by UEFA for testing positive for a banned substance.

He was later acquitted but his chances of first team football under Jurgen Klopp were then ended when he was sent home from the club’s tour of the USA.

He has since been training and playing with the Under 23s and has continually been linked with a move away from Merseyside, with Southampton seeing a loan bid rejected earlier this month.

Palace now appear to be his likeliest destination but Sky Sports are reporting that there are major stumbling blocks in the potential deal.

Liverpool are thought to be demanding £20 million for Sakho, while the player also wants an increase on his current £105,000-a-week wage packet.

Both those factors are making the deal difficult for Sam Allardyce’s side to complete before this evening’s 11pm deadline.
