Jordan Henderson’s slow recovery from injury is a growing concern for Liverpool.
Henderson remains sidelined since he last featured for the Reds on February 11 and is still no further along in making steps towards a long-awaited comeback.
On the recommendation of Liverpool’s medical staff, the midfielder is currently on crutches to keep the weight off the foot injury sustained two months ago.
Problems with Henderson’s foot have been a recurring theme since it emerged midway through last season that he suffers from an incurable heel condition.
He missed three months with the injury, just two games into the 2015/16 campaign and only featured for Jurgen Klopp in late November of that season.
Klopp, meanwhile, has confirmed that he will name a full-strength squad for Liverpool’s end-of-season friendly with Sydney FC at the end of next month.
Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne are expected to feature in the May 24 game despite representing England in their World Cup qualifiers early in June.
Henderson and Daniel Sturridge, the other members of Anfield’s England contingent, will still travel to Australia despite remaining fitness concerns.
“We will go with pretty much everybody. They will all go there even if they don’t play,” said Klopp.
“They will be involved with other things. We are not sure, there are one or two [who could miss the trip].
“But that involves other things and not international call-ups. We will show the best and nicest faces of LFC. There is no final decision at this moment.
“What we can say is 100% yes – we want to present Liverpool as good as possible and it makes sense to import these legends. They’re really happy about it.”
