Huddersfield have seen an approach for Danny Ward rejected by Liverpool.
Ward spent last season on loan with The Terriers as they went on to secure promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs.
The 22-year-old played a pivotal part in Huddersfield’s successful play-off run, making a crucial save in the penalty shoot-out in the final against Reading.
However ESPN FC claim any hopes of Ward returning to the John Smith’s Stadium have been dashed by the Reds, who are not willing to sanction a sale.
Jurgen Klopp is keen to retain the Wales international despite the prospect of more regular first-team football at Huddersfield since their Championship escape.
But the Liverpool manager wants to hold onto Ward to challenge both Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius for the number-one spot at Anfield next season.
Third choice keeper Alex Manninger retired at the end of the season, leaving Liverpool looking to fill his spot which has put paid to Ward’s planned switch.
