Security guard stabbed at Belle Vale Jobcentre

A security guard has been stabbed in an attack at Belle Vale Jobcentre.

Emergency services attended the scene Childwall Valley Road shortly after 11.30am on Monday and took a man in his 40s to hospital for a back injury.

His condition is currently described as stable.

Police say that the offender is a white male, around 5ft 4in tall and wearing dark clothing who made off from the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to locate him.

A scene is place and officers remain in the area to gather information.

Detective Inspector Phil Atkinson said: “This is a shocking incident which has occurred in broad daylight in a public place and we are carrying out extensive enquiries to locate the offender.

“Officers remain in the area to speak to witnesses and provide reassurance and I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident, saw anyone making off from the scene or has any CCTV or dashcam footage to please get in touch.

“To be assaulted in this way while simply carrying out your job is appalling and we are doing our utmost to find those responsible and put them before the courts.

“Knife crime will not be tolerated by Merseyside Police and I would urge anyone with information that could assist this investigation to please contact us.
