A man is in hospital after a collision involving an unmarked police car.
Merseyside Police were contracted at just before 9.10am on Sunday after reports a force vehicle was involved in an incident on Sefton Street at its junction of Hill Street.
A Skoda Kodiaq had been on blue lights and sirens as it was responding to an emergency call at the time of the collision with a Ford C-Max Zetec.
The driver of the Ford was taken to hospital where his condition is currently described as serious but stable.
The driver of the police vehicle was checked over but was not seriously injured, as was a police dog being carried in the police vehicle was also checked over by a vet.
Police have urged anyone who was in the area of Sefton Street at around 9am that witnessed the collision or believe they saw something on their dashcam to contact them.
