Liverpool drag artist The Vivienne’s cause of death has been confirmed.
The first-ever winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK passed away in January of this year at their home in Chorlton-by-Backford near Chester at the age of just 32.
An inquest will take place in June but their family disclosed the performer, whose real name was James Lee Williams, died from cadiac arrest caused by taking ketamine.
A statement issued by The Vivienne’s publicist and friend Simon Jones on social media hoped the news will raise awareness of the dangers connected to the drug.
He said: “James’s family and I feel it is important to say how James tragically died.
“We hope by us releasing this information we can raise awareness about the dangers of ongoing ketamine usage and what it can do to your body.
