Seven-year-old Nick Rockett has won the 2025 Grand National.

The 33/1 outsider saw off competition from last year’s winner I Am Maximus and third-placed Grangeclare West to claim the world’s most famous steeplechase.

All three finishers were trained by Willie Mullins, whose son Patrick was also the winning jockey, during an emotional afternoon at Aintree on Saturday.

Owner Stewart Andrew saw Nick Rockett complete a first race just five days after losing his wife Sadie to cancer in December 2022.

Two horses fell during the course with Broadway Boy and his jockey Tom Bellamy undergoing assessment alongside Celebre D’Allen, who also pulled up.

“It’s everything I’ve dreamed of since I was a kid,” said Patrick Mullins.

“I know it’s a cliche but when I was five or six years old, I was reading books about the National and watching black and white videos of Red Rum.

“To put my name there is very special.”.
