Murder arrest over women’s hotel death

A man has been arrested over a death at a Liverpool city centre hotel.

Police were called to the Lord Nelson Hotel on Hotham Street at around 1.40pm on Friday to reports that a woman had been found unconscious in the premises.

Emergency services attended the scene but the woman was sadly pronounced deceased. An investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident and the cause of her death.

A 52-year-old man from Liverpool has been arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to a police station where he will be questioned by detectives.

DS Paul Grounds said: “These are still the early stages of our investigation and our work will continue at pace at the location and elsewhere, as we look to piece together what happened.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with the victim’s family, who will be supported by specialist officers, and to everyone affected by the events of yesterday.

“A man is in custody, and I like to take this opportunity to remind people of the importance of not posting speculation or other comments online which could affect our ongoing work.”
