Cilla Black statue to stand outside original entrance of The Cavern

A statue in memory of Cilla Black will stand outside the original entrance to The Cavern on Mathew Street.

The bronze sculpture is being paid for by the star’s three sons as a “thank you” to the city for the support show after the death of their mum last summer.

Artists Emma Rodgers and Andy Edwards will create the statue which will be cast in Castle Fine Arts in the Baltic Quarter of Liverpool.

The final look of the statue is still to be decided however it is likely to stand an one-and-a-fifth times life size of the star.

There have been a number of smaller versions of the statues created whilst the design is finalised – however all depict a young Cilla.
