Everton fans have unveiled a banner to commemorate Black History Month.
A tribute to the club’s black players is set to be displayed inside Goodison Park ahead of the Premier League visit of Manchester United on Sunday evening.
Six players who have made noteworthy contributions to the Blues’ history were chosen to feature on the banner by the Gwladys Street 1938 group.
Everton’s first black captain Kevin Campbell, first homegrown black player Cliff Marshall and 1966 FA Cup final goal scorer Mike Trebilcock are among them.
Also included are Daniel Amokachi as their first African signing, their record African appearance holder Joseph Yobo and striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
“I wanted to paint a banner that would celebrate the impact Black players have had in helping make Everton Football Club what it is today,” Joe from Gwladys Street 1938 told Click Liverpool.
“Everyone who appears on the banner has in their own way made a huge impact during some of the club’s most memorable moments in history, everything from FA Cup finals to survival battles.
“There are some plsyers on there that may not be familiar to younger supporters, but hopefully this banner will help keep their legacy at the club going and inspire those in the future that go on to represent the team.”
Gwladys Street 1938 have previously created an array of banners for pre-match display since 2016 including one celebrating six former Everton No.9s.
