Sean Dyche has addressed calls to move Iliman Ndiaye into the no.10 role.

The Senegal international predominantly operates in the left-wing role for Everton and has racked up three goals from his opening 13 appearances.

But a growing consensus of fans believe that Ndiaye’s attribute would be better served by a potential rotation with Dwight McNeil in the central berth.

Dyche, however, downplayed those suggestions by maintaining the ex-Sheffield United forward enjoys a greater impact from his current position.

He said: “Currently, he’s doing well coming off the left.

“People keep telling me I should be playing him in the no.10.

“There’s no evidence to suggest he should be playing in the no.10 but people keep telling me of my role as a manager as they do.

“But I think he can adapt into that. The modern no.10s have to defend from there as well.

“You see Dwight McNeil doing very well on the offensive side [but] on the defensive side he’s found more of a challenge.

“It’s not as easy as people think, getting the right passing lane, stopping the opposition.

“Then on the turnover of transition of play, attacking in the right format and learning how to do that consistently throughout 95 minutes so that can be developed over time.

“But at the moment I think he’s doing a good job coming off the left. He can wriggle, he can affect and he can drive into the box.

“I think he’s still young in his Premier League learning, we know that, and he’s still adapting so we’re letting him go a little bit whilst coaching him as well.”
