James Tarkowski believes Everton will pick up points in their December run.

Sean Dyche’s side failed to break down a 10-man Brentford on Saturday ahead of a schedule next month which sees them facing several big hitters.

Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea all lie in wait for the Blues before Christmas while they face champions Manchester City on Boxing Day.

They also have to contend with visits from Wolves and Nottingham Forest over the festive period as both sides continue to demonstrate fine form.

But Tarkowski remains confident Everton can take something from that daunting schedule despite sitting three points away from the relegation zone.

He said: “There are some very good teams in this league.

“But I go into every game in this league expecting to win, or at least compete, so that is what we will be looking to do.

“We have picked up points off them before, and I am confident we will do that again in this run of fixtures.

“We are going to play everyone twice, and it doesn’t matter when you play them, you are still going to play them at some point.

“So we go to Old Trafford next week, and the teams that we have got coming up, we have picked up points against them before.

“They are tough games, but you don’t get an easy game in this league where you are guaranteed three points. We look forward to them.”

Everton’s paltry return of 10 goals from their opening 12 games is a growing source of concern but Tarkowski feels that their luck will eventually turn.

“We have been very, very close,” admitted the defender.

“I think in the Southampton game Beto got a ball smashed off his head and it hit the bar from two-yards out.

“All teams go through periods like this where they struggle to score. We are not the only team this happened to.

“Sometimes it just takes one little scruffy goal to go in and then you go on a little run.

“Hopefully that will come next week when we go to Old Trafford.”
