The Football Association have charged Everton over the fallout from Wednesday’s Merseyside derby.

David Moyes’ side salvaged a late point in their final encounter against Liverpool at Goodison Park as tensions boiled over between both teams.

Abdoulaye Doucoure was sent off during the skirmishes alongside Curtis Jones, the visitors’ head coach Arne Slot and assistant Sipke Hulshoff.

The Blues were charged on Friday failing to prevent their staff from behaving in an ‘improper and/or provocative way’ following Michael Oliver’s final whistle.

Everton have until Wednesday, February 19 to respond to their charge.

Moyes, meanwhile, has addressed the racist abuse directed towards Doucoure on social media in the aftermath of the 245th derby encounter.

Both clubs jointly condemned the messages sent to the midfielder’s Instagram account after he posted following the last-ever Goodison clash.

“I was disappointed in Doucoure because he played so well in the game and did a great job for the team,” said Moyes.

“He wouldn’t have probably done what he did [if he had the chance again]. But it still doesn’t mean that people are allowed to abuse you.

“If that’s the case, it’s completely wrong.”
