Everton have been fined for their part in the Merseyside derby fallout.

The final-ever clash with Liverpool at Goodison Park descended into skirmishes after James Tarkowski salvaged a 2-2 draw for the hosts deep in added time.

Abdoulaye Doucoure was retrospectively sent off by referee Michael Oliver as both sets of players and staff were involved in skirmishes following the final whistle.

The Football Association has now hit the Blues with a £65,000 fine for failing to control their players and staff during the scenes in front of the Bullens Road Stand.

David Moyes’ side received a higher penalty than their neighbours, who saw Curtis Jones, Arne Slot and Sipke Hulshoff also dismissed, by £15,000.

Written reasons for both clubs’ sanctions are set to be provided in due course.
