James Vaughan is set to leave his role at Everton’s academy.

Vaughan returned to the club where he had risen through the ranks as a player to become their new loan pathways manager in September 2022.

The former striker’s job remit was later upgraded to a joint title as the Blues’ head of academy recruitment and player pathways just 12 months ago.

But Vaughan’s departure from Finch Farm later this month was confirmed on Tuesday as he prepares to pursue an opportunity away from the club.

Everton’s academy director Gareth Prosser said: “James has decided to take up an opportunity elsewhere and will leave Everton later this month.

“On behalf of everyone at the club, I’d like to thank James for his service and wish him all the best for the future.”
