Jesper Lindstrom will face an extended absence from Everton involvement.

The loanee winger was originally sidelined for Wednesday’s Merseyside derby defeat to Liverpool with what David Moyes labelled as a groin strain.

But Lindstrom is now also confirmed to miss Arsenal’s final visit to Goodison Park on Saturday lunchtime as the full extent of the injury is diagnosed.

Moyes revealed ahead of facing the Gunners that the Denmark international is set to see a specialist amid concerns that the problem is more deep-rooted.

He said: “Jesper’s not available.

“He’s going to get checked with a specialist. he’s got a groin problem.

“We’re looking to see if it’s a hernia or anything like that so he won’t be available [against Arsenal].”

The Everton manager also reflected on the controversial circumstances in which his side’s nine-game unbeaten run was ended in the Anfield derby.

Diogo Jota’s second-half strike settled matters across Stanley Park for the hosts despite Luis Diaz’s clear offside positioning in the build-up to the goal.

It was claimed that the winger’s refusal to move towards the ball before James Tarkowski’s slid half-clearance meant he was not intefering with play.

“Ultimately I think anybody who’s followed football over a period of their life has seen that as offside,” added Moyes.

“It’s an easy thing for them to come out and say there’s a rule. I think the big thing for them is they’ve said he has to be in his vision.

“I don’t know who’s deciding that Tarky hasn’t seen him. All the clips you’ve seen show he’s offside.

“We’re just about to go into the semi-automated offsides. It’ll be interesting to know what they’d have done about he decision. It looked as if he was offside.

“Look, it’s now gone. We can ask all the questions but we’ve moved on from it.”
