Virgil van Dijk insist he has ‘no idea’ on his long-term Liverpool future.

Van Dijk will become a free agent this summer when his current contract expires alongside teammates Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Talks remain ongoing with all three players in attempts to retain the spine of Arne Slot’s side which remains in the hunt to win two trophies this season.

But speaking after the Reds’ Champions League exit to Paris Saint-Germain, Van Dijk conceded he does not know if he will still be at the club in August.

He said: “I have no idea at the moment.

“There is nothing on hold. I don’t even know myself. I keep saying the same thing.

“Listen, there is 10 more games left and that is my full focus. If there is news, you guys will know it but I don’t even know it myself.

“Everyone knows there is some conversations behind the scenes but that is about it.

“I don’t know what will happen next year so if anyone says they do, they are lying to you.”

Despite crashing out of Europe’s elite club competition on penalties, the Liverpool captain is maintaining focus on Sunday’s Carabao Cup final.

“We have two big prizes we can still get,” added Van Dijk.

“We have to give it everything, feel the disappointment [of] tonight, and from tomorrow we start the recovery.

“If we bring this intensity with our fans in Wembley on Sunday then I’m positive.

“We don’t need any extra motivation. Ten more games. We can win the Premier League and we can win the Carabao Cup this Sunday.

“If you need any extra motivation then you are in the wrong business.”
