Liverpool FC hand Klopp £40m to sign Mane replacement

Jurgen Klopp has been handed a transfer war chest to source Liverpool’s replacement for Sadio Mane.

Mane will be absent for potentially up to four weeks after leaving the Reds’ squad to represent Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations later this month.

In his absence, Klopp has been backed with funds by the Anfield hierarchy to seek ample cover for the £30 million summer signing from Southampton.

SportsBild claim that owners Fenway Sports Group agreed with the Liverpool manager’s assertion that he will require a fresh alternative in Mane’s absence.

According to the German magazine, Klopp will have £40 million at his disposal to invest in a new attacking player during the January transfer window.
