Divock Origi seals £6m loan move to Wolfsburg

Liverpool have confirmed that Divock Origi will join Wolfsburg on a season-long loan.

Liverpool will offload the striker from their wage bill for the rest of the current campaign while the Bundesliga side are set to also pay up a £6 million fee.

Origi was pushed down further the pecking order at Anfield by Dominic Solanke’s arrival earlier this summer and is keen for regular first-team football.

Ahead of the 2018 World Cup, the Belgium international set his sights on leaving the Reds, even temporarily, in order to secure a place for his national side.

Wolfsburg have no option to make Origi’s stay a permanent one at the end of his loan, with Liverpool still keen to utilise him for their squad in the long-term.

Anderlecht, Tottenham and Marseille were among those who expressed an interest in the 22-year-old, who has scored 21 times in 77 outings since 2015.

Also on the move from Merseyside temporarily this transfer deadline day is Allan Rodrigues de Souza, who has joined Cypriot side Apollon Limassol.

The Brazilian midfielder spent the previous campaign with Hertha Berlin due to work permit issues since his original move to Liverpool two years ago.

Apollon have been Everton’s Europa League group, which kicks off next month.
